Earth Day Card Contest

Kelly Jo had an Earth Day contest in which we could submit one scrapbook page or two cards. The catch was that we had to use some sort of recycled material. I chose to use Diet Coke cans for my projects. A lot of you have been asking how I put this plan into action, so here is a little picture tutorial for you:

I cut the top and the bottom off using my awesome Craftsman knife and my even more awesome Fiskars kitchen shears (these things will cut anything)!

Once I cut off the bottom and the top, I then cut a slit across the heighth of the soda can:

Okay, now it's time to get out your Sizzix Big Shot or whatever comparable machine you have that will run Sizzix dies. I used my Top Note Die and my Scallop Circle Die for this project. I ran both cans through the machine, just as I would paper. This is how they turned out:

At this point, I sanded the edges a bit, because they were pretty sharp. Proceed with caution when using any type of sharp metal. Then I ran them through my Sizzix again using two different Cuttlebug Embossing folders. I used the polka dots and the swirls for this project. I turned the can over, so that you can still see that it is a Diet Coke can here:

I had so much fun doing this! Now I want to try and paint the aluminum, or alter it in different ways. Thanks for checking this out! Here are my finished projects:

Fiskateer's Online Crop

Hello everyone! So this weekend Kelly Jo had an all weekend long online crop on Fiskateers. It was so much fun. Thank you Kelly Jo, for celebrating your birthday with us! Here are some of the items we were asked to enter for contests. The first was a birthday card:

The next items was to create an ATC with a birthday theme. I would like to thank Judy, Fiskateer #6979 for sending me this funny stamped image in a recent Fiskateer swap, check it out:

We also had to post a Mother's day card. I just happened to have made this card at my Stampin Up meeting on the same day, so I submitted it for the contest:

Some Favor Boxes

I can make all kinds of favor boxes. The first set below are store bought favor boxes from Walmart. I made them for a couple of friends of mine that were getting married:

These were my first attempt at Favor Boxes. I hand cut all of these boxes for my father's 75th Birthday party. Now I have my Cricut, thank goodness. No more crooked patterns!!!!

Valentines Cards

Here are a couple of Valentine's cards I have made. The first card was made with The Stamps of Life clear stamps:

The second card was done with a Cuttlebut embossing card, the heart is from my Cricut, and the border and Love symbol are from my Sizzix:

Old Faithful

About one year ago, my husband and I went on a three week journey around the western part of the United States. One of our stops was Yellowstone National Park. This is a scrapbook layout from Yellowstone:

Scrapbook pages from Caballo Lake, NM

One of our favorite things to do is go up to Caballo Lake in Southern New Mexico. Here are some scrapbook pages from there. Enjoy:

More Stampin Up

March 8, 2010

So here is other item that i made at my Stampin Up workshop. It is a square scallope die from Sizzix. Then we scored it (I used a Fiskar's trimmer to score the paper) and then folded it up and put some ribbon through the wholes in the corners. This is a super easy project that turned out really pretty!

Some of the Hershey's Kisses are missing thanks to my husband! :)

1st Stampin Up Scrap Meeting

March 3, 2010

So a couple of weeks ago I went to my first Stampin Up workshop. I met a lot of really nice people at the workshop and I learned several new techniques. My host was gracious and well spoken. Here are some pictures of the easel card we made:

This is the inside of the card. You can't really tell from this photo, but we stamped the image on the outside of the card twice. We stamped once on the outside and then again on the inside without re-inking. This gave it a kind of shabby and faded look to it.

This is the card folded up. I stamped it a little crooked, but i kind of like that it isn't perfect anyway. Life isn't perfect, right? The friends stamp was achieved by putting drops of three different colors of alcohol ink on a baby wipe. It came out pretty cool, huh! I wish I could take credit for this technique, but it was our host who taught us how do accomplish this.

Here is the card sitting inside the border punch which makes it sit up and therefore, it is an easel card! I loved making this card and so enjoyed my time at that workshop. I hope to be to attend each meeting. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

My New Cricut Cover

March 2, 2010

Okay, so I am pretty new to Fiskateers. My Fiskateers number is 6849. Anyway, so I am on the website, and then I see this post about ordering Cricut Covers. My new friend, Shannon White, really helped me out! I ordered the cover on Etsy and it works so much better then what I had before.

So the old cover was a worn out old towel that I found in the garage and then proceeded to throw in the laundry to make sure it was clean. Not exactly fashionable! All I can tell you is that I was so excited when I receive my new cover. Check it out...

Needless to say, I love my new cover and I have Shannon to thank for it. Now I need a cover for my Sizzix Big Shot Express. Is there anyone out there that knows how to make one of those?
